Early Years Music Training and CPD
Dr Jane Todd is available to lead training and CPD in EYFS settings, as either one-off sessions or a planned training programme.
Jane runs workshops on how to use songs and rhymes in the Early Years (half day or full day), and a programme on speech and language development through music where Jane leads sessions for Practitioners on the theory behind the approach as well as teaching the material to practitioners, this can be followed by one-to-one support in the setting (dependent on location).
Jane’s consultancy sessions/days can also be tailor-made to specific settings and needs and can include:
- The importance of songs and rhymes with 0-5’s
- Delivering Music in the Early Years
- One to one support in the setting, observing music teaching and giving feedback to practitioners
- Advice on resources and equipment
- Using an aural/vocal approach to support speech and language development
‘Thank you so much for the fantastic INSET session you provided South Glos Music Hub last week. It was refreshing to see many of our teachers going through various states of curiosity about how the skills and techniques of teaching music in early years settings can have a big impact in their own 1:1 or small group situation. As I said on the day, as music hubs realign their focus onto early years music, there will no doubt be a wider market for the kind of creative skill set you have and your ability to get an entire room of instrumental teachers on side as quickly as you did!’
Ben Stevens, Music Progression and Participation Leader, South Gloucestershire Music Hub
‘The bespoke training we received from Dr Jane Todd was excellent. The whole process, from planning through to delivery, was very thorough to fully meet our training needs. As a result of our day spent at Do Re Mi, my colleague and I feel much more knowledgeable about how to plan and implement child-initiated learning in Early Years settings and the processes involved. The training, an excellent balance of practical observation and theoretical study, will enhance our own practice hugely and, in turn, that of our colleagues and practitioners with whom we work in settings. I would highly recommend Jane, and many thanks to her for a wonderful day!’

Early Years Music Sessions
These online sessions give a flavour of the early years songs and rhymes Jane uses in Do Re Mi Music sessions and training, but obviously do not compare to the actual engagement and personal response in an actual Do Re Mi session. They were recorded when we were in lockdown for COVID-19, so that our do re mi music friends did not miss out on their music times!
